OUR GOAL

When we say functional fitness, we mean movements you perform almost every day. Our goal at Ganbatte Fitness is to help you perform them safely, quickly, and efficiently. By performing these movements at a high intensity (relative to the individual), you are not only increasing your strength and stamina, but you are also reaping the benefits of an intense cardio workout. Our GSTRONG, ENGINE, GWOD, and EWOD classes will help you reach your goals.

COACH: JP AMISTOSO

Is the founder, owner, and head coach of Ganbatte Fitness. JP founded Ganbatte Fitness in 2011 to be a community that embodies “ganbatte” - a Japanese term which expresses the concept of “doing your best”. It is this spirit that the Ganbatte community encourages and strives to build through its coaches and members everyday. He believes that through this practice individuals are able to inspire and move each other through this life long journey of fitness.

Born and raised in the Philippines, JP grew up playing competitive sports from tennis, basketball, soccer, and chess. As a competitive triathlete and marathoner, JP’s areas of expertise are endurance and “engine building”. His coaching successes include helping competitive athletes achieve their qualifying times for major races as well as serving as a trusted celebrity trainer.

Through his strength & conditioning program and approach to proper training, he develops the speed and strength of athletes of all levels to help meet their goals, whether it’s training to qualify for the Boston Marathon, Ironman triathlon preparation, improving their performance in a specific sport, or simply to enhance overall fitness.

HEAD COACH: ERIC PHILLIPS

Brings over 9 years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach for gyms and in collegiate athletics, group fitness instructor, and a personal trainer. He grew up in nearby Burbank, CA and played football for John Burroughs High School. He attended Saint Mary’s College of California, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Health and Human Performance.

Eric has always had a passion for understanding athletic performance and training. He applies this passion to constantly expanding his knowledge of the best standards, practices, and new innovations in training to craft personalized approaches to increasing the performance and health of his athletes.

COACH: NILE FRANKLIN

Has devoted most of her life to sports as a coach and as a competitor. As an athlete, she began playing soccer and moved into individual sports including track & field and tennis. While she trained in a variety of sports for over a decade, it wasn’t until she was introduced to Crossfit in 2013 when she found her true passion - the sport of weightlifting.

Nile has become a competitor at the national level. She is a decorated medalist and qualifier in her weight class in the American Open and has her eyes set to competing on the international stage. Her love and dedication to weightlifting adds to her unique expertise as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer; expertise that she loves to share with her athletes to help them grow in different aspects of their performance through training rooted in sound technique and precise mechanics.

COACH: & MIKE PITTS

Is a former Division I rugby player who brings his coaching perspective from the world of sport. Since hanging up his cleats, Coach Mike has focused his attention on powerlifting and kettlebell training, emphasizing that success is a long road, and often requires continuous attention to small, minute details. In addition to his kettlebell and powerlifting expertise, his experience includes developing strength & conditioning and bootcamp programming.

He has been actively coaching since 2013 and specializes in helping individuals develop specific, realistic, and attainable goals.

COACH: MICHAEL TROBISCH

Is the newest coach at Ganbatte Fitness and enjoys teaching the sport of fitness through skill development, proper movement mechanics and varied workouts. He firmly believes that training in this way enhances overall wellness and longevity.

Born and raised in Austria, Michael attended college in California and played competitive sports including soccer, basketball and track & field at the college level. After graduation, he continued to pursue athletic excellence and rose through the ranks of CrossFit, attaining Level 2 certification in 2020. Michael’s areas of expertise include coaching gymnastics and olympic weight lifting as an extension of the foundational movements. His professional successes include teaching students with disabilities how to ski and snowboard while he worked as a staff member at the USARC in Big Bear, CA.

COACH: Caroline Kim Palacios

Caroline has trained in Crossfit/functional fitness for the past 7 years as a part of a weight loss transformation. Her experiences overcoming health challenges are the foundation of her belief that everyone is an athlete and that fitness is for everyone. She is passionate about helping everyday athletes build functional fitness that translates beyond the gym.

Grounded in 10 years of ballet and dance training, her approach in the gym prioritizes a focus on the details of sound technique to prevent injury and to build the foundation for lifelong mobility. As a former high school and collegiate swimmer and water polo player, Caroline channels her competitive spirit into the pursuit of becoming a well-rounded athlete. When she's not at Ganbatte, you can find her in a pool or in the ocean.

COACH: NORIKO KAKIHARA

Is a former competitive swimmer and short distance triathlete, enjoys the challenge of working to be a well-rounded athlete. When she is not traveling the world as a backstage wardrobe for artists on tour, she dedicates her time to increasing her proficiencies across many dimensions of fitness. She loves all aspects of training, including aerobic conditioning, strength building, and gymnastics. She strives to exemplify what it means to, “thrive to be the best version of yourself everyday” and is passionate about being a part of the growth of the Ganbatte community.
